We represent one of Sydney's better-regarded home decorations businesses, with a turnover of over $10 million per annum. Privately owned, the owners wish to genuinely bring in a capable Manager - Operations to initially learn the business, contribute to its further systematisation and have the Manager - Operations and HR become an autonomous 2IC. The goal is to double the size of the business in the next 2 years, and then use that platform to propel growth further, perhaps via franchising.

Responsible for a team, covering Showroom, Sales and Installation Departments, the Manager - Operations and HR will have responsibilities for:

  • Leadership of the overall operations of the business
  • All aspects of people management.
  • Articulating the vision with the team and ensuring all business activities support it.
  • Aligning all aspects of the business to its vision and business plan.
  • Analysing the business and ensuring resources are adequately in place to deliver to standard, now and in the future.
  • Holding staff accountable for the achievement of their roles, deliverables, standards and deadlines.
  • Taking pride in creating and maintaining a well-oiled machine, that underpins loyal customers, profitability for each job, and overall bottom-line health.

We are seeking a Manager - Operations and HR who

  • Must have been directly responsible for business operations, systems and process development and implementation, ensuring business growth while maintaining profitability over an extended period.
  • Proven experience working in a retail environment, where scaling of a business was achieved, preferably a retail/ home furnishings business, eg curtains, blinds, furniture
  • Experience and knowledge required of the following:
    • Generalist Human Resources experience - especially recruitment, and development and embedding of culture
    • General IT systems
    • Marketing, especially digital marketing
  • Can demonstrate a proactive manner.
  • Has a get things done attitude.
  • Be systems-oriented.
  • Thinks in an organised and strategic way.
  • Has strong verbal communication skills.
  • Has proven team leadership experience.
  • Has a high attention to detail.
  • Is consultative yet, able to lead when and where needed.
